If I ever am a housewife for an extended time… large speakers attatched to my record player will be necessary. I don’t mind doing dishes or sweeping when there’s good music on. The work seems to fade into the background of an impromptu dance party, starring myself. I was doing dishes and ending up dancing with my tunes and I felt like Ellen for a moment. And I don’t hate it. Picture it: me, hair tossed up, oversized hoodie, PJ pants and slip on vans. Just jammin. Oh and there was a Rachael Ray recipe for dog food on the table. That’s an important part. They’re bff I think. Yes. Speakers. and weed. And now Coldplay is on… I’ve got to clean up my iPod. No, just kidding. (YES!nooooo) I’m into Coldplay. But I woudn’t turn down a swanky hotel room to see them.
I really enjoyed Obama’s speech. I watched it this morning on cnn.com and I am so happy that he’s our President. It’s so refreshing to hear what he has to say. The sunrise logo he used was perfect. It’s like a new day. As if the last 8 years were just one really long, violent, hateful and sorrowful bad day. And the sun has set on that time, and has risen for a new dawn. New beginnings. New hope.
There was a segment on This American Life where a group of environmental engineers and advocates were having a meeting, and Obama had sent over a tape of himself addressing the group as if it were a real life speech. He talked about all of their key issues and validated everything they had been working for. Some of the members of the group said that even though they all were watching it on a television and Obama wasn’t there to recieve their applause, standing ovations and cheers filled the room at many points during his address. I remember one interview where a scientist had mentioned that after so long of being denied and being told that their issues weren’t important by the government, it was a brand new feeling to have such willing support.
